Senior Officials from IMT-GT and BIMP-EAGA convened a Special Joint BIMP-EAGA and IMT-GT Senior Officials’ Meeting on the Blue Economy Strategy 2030 in Jakarta, Indonesia, on 20 August 2024. The meeting, which was hosted by the Asian Development Bank, provided critical inputs and guidance to the Joint BIMP-EAGA and IMT-GT Blue Economy Strategy 2030, a key initiative developed by ADB.

The Joint BIMP-EAGA and IMT-GT Blue Economy Strategy 2030 (BES 2030) outlines opportunities and solutions for challenges in the shared seas and waterways of BIMP-EAGA and IMT-GT, aligning with and drawing inspiration from ASEAN initiatives. This document will provide strategies for the two subregions by optimising its marine and inland water resources. BES 2030 is expected to be endorsed by IMT-GT Leaders during the 16th IMT-GT Summit in 2025.
